Weekend Update 8/20/23

1. Tipsy Tuesday Ten- Fall Trend Report: What’s in and out

Every season there is always a lot of info out there on the interweb (as Bill calls it) about the new trends and all the things that are in and out this year. This year can create a sense of FOMO for some and create dread in other who fear they will, God forbid, wear the “wrong” thing. Well ladies, let’s take a collective deep breath here and keep things in perspective.

The great news is that most of what we were wearing last year (and even the year before) is still “in style” with some minor tweaks. So no matter what the internet tells you, you don’t need to go out and buy all new jeans, boots, shoes and sweaters this year….unless you want to;) Instead, my recommendation is to add some select, quality pieces that will last for years and then maybe a small number of less pricey “fun” pieces to add freshness and make you happy.

Or if you’re cutting back on shopping or creating a minimalist wardrobe, you’re in luck! Instead, just work to reimagine what you own in new and different ways. That’s what we do over in the Fall Style System and I hope you’ll join us for the best season yet.

1. HOT Pre-Fall Outfit Idea

If it’s really hot where you are but you’re looking to give a nod to the changing season, consider using COLOR like I did here. A breezy shirt like this worn as a layer provides no real warmth, isn’t sticky or clingy, and is an alternative to a bohemian-style kimono if this is more your style aesthetic. For a preppier look, sub in a cotton or twill shirt.
